           Kenny "Shorty" Folstad  - Boat & Motor Mechanic

     If you are needing marine boat or engine repair, then Kenny "Shorty" Folstad is the mechanic you will probably want. He is honest and reasonably priced. He has been a mechanic for over forty years now. These days he has slowed down, age does that, but he is still getting his fingers dirty.
     He works on both outboard and inboard marine engines. Whether it is the engine itself or the drive train, or a lower unit, he knows them inside and out. He is also excellent at the electrical (new or old) systems and the "plumbing", the cooling. He has worked on fuel injection and more carburetors than there are fish in Lake Vermilion, well almost.
     But, it doesn't stop there. He has also worked on the hulls of boats. He has hundreds and hundreds of hours doing welding. He welds both steel and aluminum. If you accidentally hit a rock (of course, we know there are none in Lake Vermilion) there is a very good chance he can get you up and floating again in a very short amount of time.
     Do you need work done on your boat trailer? He can do that too. In fact, he has custom built and designed a few trailers for some larger boats. He has done that here at Lake Vermilion and also in Duluth, Minnesota for boats on Lake Superior.
     He has been a resident of the Tower and Soudan area almost his entire life. He has called Minnesota "home" for his whole life, except for those years in the service. And all of that time he has been a mechanic. He knows the marine trade well.
